The Arab / Israeli conflict has never seriously been about the plight of the Palestinian people but only about neighboring countries enmity towards a staunch American ally nestled within the Islamic world. Israel would be in a very tough spot indeed without the continued military and economic support of the United States. Of course this support swings both ways. Without a strong Israel, the U.S. would be in a much more difficult bargaining position when it comes to gaining access to the crude oil of the region.
So why all the hubbub about the people of the former state of Palestine? As long as the Arab world can keep the tensions high, their own position is leveraged in their negotiations to offer access to their natural resources and the Persian Gulf.
A state for the Palestinian people is a necessity, but any progress will not be possible as long as the political parties in Israel and the United States carry such far right, near fascist proclivities. Is it any wonder the terrorists strike? Those were the very same tactics the Jews of the state of Palestine used to gain their independence from British occupation on the way to the founding of the modern state of Israel in the late 1940's.
Let's hear from you!
